Wuxi has received a huge splurge of foreign investment this year. The city has already received $8.2 billion of investment from 219 foreign-funded enterprises this year. That's a 500 percent increase on the figure for the same period in 2016.
The foreign investment has concentrated mainly on the manufacturing and technical service industries, and scientific research.
Nearly 50 percent of the investment went to manufacturing enterprises in the first half of this year, which is helping upgrade the city's industry.
