Wuxi’s bioengineering and pharmaceuticals industries' output value reached 48.482 billion yuan ($7.374 billion) in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 13.69 percent. Some of the region's bioengineering and pharmaceuticals enterprises showed progress in the development of stronger gene detection systems and stem cell storage after several years of dedicated research. Boyalife and two other enterprises received strategic investment and share acquisitions from listed companies, and five other companies were listed on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations. Professor Jan-Christer Janson, co-founder of USUN Bio, was awarded the 2015 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
