The Wuxi branch of the Environmental Planning and Design Institute of Nanjing University was established on May 15, along with the Environmental Protection Internet of Things (IoT) Center of Nanjing University Alumni.
Sponsored by the Wuxi municipal environmental protection bureau, the government of Liangxi district and Nanjing University, the Wuxi branch will be situated at the Wuxi Liangxi Environmental Protection Industrial Park, designing to apply the IoT technology to environmental governance.
"The Wuxi branch will promote the settlement of high-tech and science and technology enterprises in the industrial park and build a one-stop service platform for enterprises." said Lu Chaoyang, director of the Environmental Planning and Design Institute of Nanjing University.
It will be committed to providing environmental protection companies with services, including analysis and testing, large-scale facility and equipment sharing, R&D technical support, pilot incubation, laboratory design, supply chain management, talent recruitment and training.
The Taihu Lake Water Protection Project, a national project undertaken by Nanjing University, will be put into operation by the Wuxi branch. A total of 5 professors and 30 researchers will join in the project.
"The project team will carry out pollution prevention work for Taihu Lake, such as the control of pollution sources, black-odor river courses and flood control based on the IoT technology," said Professor Qian Xin of the School of Environment of Nanjing University.
