Yakult Honsha Company, a Japanese leading manufacturer of fermented diary drinks, will expand its operations in the Wuxi National Hi-tech district with a fresh $100 million investment, according to an announcement made on May 16.
The Wuxi branch of Yakult Honsha Company, Wuxi Yakult Company, was established in 2015 with a total investment of $300 million. The new six production lines will help increase the production capacity from an initial 2.25 million bottles per day to 4 million bottles by June, 2019.
Huang Qin, the acting mayor of Wuxi, said that the Wuxi government will continue to support the construction of the Wuxi Yakult Company, with the ultimate aim of it becoming the largest and competitive Chinese branch.
"Leading a healthy lifestyle is encouraged in Wuxi and as the economic center of the Yangtze River delta, Wuxi welcomes more healthy food businesses to develop here", said Huang.
