Yixing, a city famous for its purple clay teapots, wooed passers-by in Shanghai Pudong International Airport on May 18, as part of events to mark International Museum Day.
A number of exquisite purple clay and Jun Jun-glazed art works, coming from Yixing Ceramic Museum, attracted passengers in the airport. Four Yixing craftsmen also showed traditional production techniques, using their thumbs and flexible fingering to "twist, twiddle, rub, tap, press" colorful earthenware clay and emboss a beautiful picture on the body of pottery.

Yixing hand-made pottery was a source of attraction for many thanks to its unique artistic charm. It is not only collected by domestic and foreign museums, but is also often selected as national gifts. Many purple clay teapots and Jun-glazed pottery artists are often invited overseas for art exchanges and live performances and have won honors for China.
A Chinese tea ceremony show was also staged in the airport. Yixing has a history of tea production for over 1,800 years. Tea and Zen have a long history of being connected in Yixing, attracting tourists to enjoy clean living there.
