As an industrial park with more than 460 famous film companies settled there, Wuxi Studios has formed a complete chain of digital film and television industry that integrates innovation, production and copyright. The annual value of production at Wuxi Studios has exceeded 3.2 billion yuan.
"Wuxi has created its own development pattern of cultural trade with distinct features and various motives," said an official from Wuxi municipal bureau of commerce.
"The rapid development of emerging cultural industries in Wuxi does not dwarf the development of traditional cultural industry," he added.
As well, abundant cultural tourism resources in Wuxi have attracted many foreign visitors every year.
The total amount of foreign currency earnings from tourism to the city was nearly $400 million last year. Yixing purple clay, Huishan clay figurines, Meicun's erhu (a traditional two-stringed bowed instrument) are among the many local cultural specialties that are popular among foreign visitors.
