Renovations on Wuxi Railway Station were finally completed on Dec 10, making Wuxi Station the fourth double-sided elevated station on the Shanghai-Nanjing railway line.

After a grueling 31 months of construction with an investment of 660 million yuan ($95.7 million), the north and south terminals of the station are now connected through the use of elevated waiting rooms.

The new Wuxi Station can transport 120,000 people in peak hours, and is about double in size, explained Wang Baiping, vice station master of Wuxi Railway Station.

Over 1,800 chairs, eight self-service ticket collectors and 24 ticket gates have been added to the 18,000-square-meter new railway station. The north exit is supposed to be connected to metro Line 1 before Spring Festival next year.

With its large scale, comfortable environment, and improved service quality, Wuxi Station is becoming an increasingly popular transportation hub which provides passengers with a convenient travel experience.
