Yangshan residents celebrate traditional Chinese New Year

Yangshan town in East China's Wuxi city, home to Yangshan honey peaches, launched an early celebration of the traditional Chinese New Year on Jan 26.

The lunar New Year, the Year of the Pig in the Chinese calendar, officially falls this year on Feb 5.

A great variety of cultural performances featuring Chinese intangible cultural heritages and folk art were on offer to tourists.

Residents in Yangshan town made rice dumplings, wrote spring scrolls, and performed the dragon dance, attracting people from all over the city.

The two-day event also invited locals and children to take part in a fair, which presenting Spring Festival couplets and New Year wishes to tourists.
