The Xishan district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, is set to host the Second Wanshan Lake International Marathon on Nov 10, according to a press conference held in the city on June 28.

The 2019 edition of the event will be expanded from last year's 6,000 runners to 12,000 for the 42.195-kilometer full marathon and 5-kilometer mini-marathon.

A total prize of 600,000 yuan ($87,370) will be awarded to the fastest 20 runners respectively for both the full and mini-marathons this year.

The event boasts a beautiful running route along the flower sea of the district's Wanshan Lake, offering runners spectacular sightseeing.

To provide a better experience and service, 2,500 volunteers are expected to guide the runners and provide supplies along the track.

Thirteen ambulances, roughly 60 automated external defibrillators (AED) and 200 medical aid runners will also be equipped at the scene to guarantee their safety.

A fixed medical station will be set up at the starting point and every 2 km along the track, as well as a comprehensive medical station every 10 km along the track and at the finishing line.
